THE GAME ARCADE - PIXEL SQUARE

                                                         The Game Arcade.

Using recycled papers in order to reduce cost , turning something 2d to 3d .
making  life size games, using papers only.

Knowing this actually got me very excited , and after getting this game '' PACMAN''
we started off with making sketches and observing the available space . which is a classroom .
also decided to utilize available materials and things such as the window and table to make the game screen and the console  keeping in mind to have a 3D effect.

These are some sketches made . *spatial desigining in process *

After understanding our space, we did abit of  research on our game .
so thats basically the original pac man  screen, characters etc.

we decided to design our signage .  there were several designs done and also the characters such as the ghosts and pacman itself.  since we are in a group of 5 we decided to make the ghosts have characteristics of each of us . so the ghosts are made as each of appear.  which i think made it even more exciting .

we first pre - designed the maze on a piece of paper . and measured the space available and divided accordingly .

signage and ghost characters .

hey! these are my group members :)  ilona and audrey !

these are our ghost characters . designed and cut.

there after we used the window to plot our maze, however we decided to use clear plastic to stick on  the window and then paste our work , so as it would be very easy and convenient to take it off after the display, and may also be used for other purposes later on .

after finalizing the maze, we used masking tape to sketch up on the window in order to get a preview of how the maze would look like , something that was amazing and beautiful while doing it was that the sun light passed through the window forming a shadow on the floor which made the whole thing look even better  .

isnt this cool ?

after sketching up the maze, we also made the console for the game . using thick card boards which were placed on the table. the console consisted of one joystick and two buttons as per the original pacman game console.  to make the joystick we used table tennis ball with chopsticks glued it and wrapped it with paper.  and for the buttons we used paper and sponge to give 3D effect.

thats the console.

A few shots of  paper pacman!

coming back to the maze, we used card board to put up the maze . as using papers would be too weak.  cool part about using this was , when looking from the front it looked like straight plain lines. but if looked from different angles it gave this 3D illusion which made it look even better. also to make the pacman food , we used stryofoam , we used a styrofoam cutter to cut it into fine squares and pasted them using  double sided tape.

our signage , was designed by us by made by the signage group, however special thanks to them for making our game look awesome .

TADAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
we present to you '' PACMAN"

we also made the coin slot, to make as real as we possibly could.

oh the super awesome part is , during the night , the whole arcade looked like this .

cool isnt it ?

this is a combination of 3 console games.
the mario , the tetris and ofcourse the pacman.

however there were other games made  by my other classmates. i must say i have talented friends!

whack a mole !

andddd! yessssss our entranceee signage
*PIXEL SQUARE*

My learning outcome from this whole work is , to every problem theres a solution . 2d materials can be  magical if its used appropriately and creatively. and also teamwork plays a high role in coming up with such a great work  and also to have fun with every work we do !
